The author is responsible for all publishing and printing costs.
2

What is circulation?
Distribution refers to the publisher's responsibility to deliver your book to offline sales channels such as bookstores. In other words, if you want to see your book on the shelves of a bookstore, you must choose 'distribution'.
4
Costs included in self-publishing:
• Editing fee: Includes editing and revision of the manuscript.
• Proofreading fee: Limits on the number of proofreadings and word count.
• Binding fee: This includes the cost of layout, binding, printing method, and printing paper.
• Advertising expenses: This includes the bookstore's distribution reach, display methods, and sales volume.
• ISBN: The cost of obtaining an ISBN (International Standard Book Number).
• Copyright acquisition: Costs for obtaining copyright, including registration fees.
Note: Publications published overseas cannot be printed on Taobao in China. Furthermore, a domestic publication number is required for their sale in China.
1️⃣ Prior consultation
The author proposes publication intentions (book type, language, expected quantity, target market, etc.).
Confirm whether the author's needs can be met, and explain the scope of publication, basic costs, and procedures to the author.
After both parties confirmed that they were on the same page, they proceeded to the formal contract stage.
2️⃣ Sign the agreement
A Publication Commission Agreement was signed.
The publishing entity is Xijing Publishing House; Party A must guarantee the legality of the copyright; the method of bearing the costs and the payment period.
3️⃣ Original manuscript submission
The author submits the final manuscript and related materials (text, pictures, charts, and appendices) to the publisher.
If the original manuscript is not in Japanese, it will proceed to our translation and proofreading process.
Our company is responsible for copyright and compliance checks to ensure there is no risk of illegality or infringement.
4️⃣ Translation and proofreading (if needed)
Our publishing house directly organizes the translation and proofreading process (initial translation → editorial review → second revision → native speaker proofreading → publisher's final review).
The final selection of manuscripts for publication will be made by our publishing house to ensure language quality and publishing standards.
The translation process was entirely led by our company, rather than being outsourced to a third-party publisher.
5️⃣ Editing and Design
The publishing house is responsible for text editing, formatting, and terminology correction.
Complete the cover design and text layout, and produce a proof (ゲラ).
The author confirms the proofs, but our publishing house reserves the right to make the final revisions and publication decisions.
6️⃣ Book Number and Registration
The ISBN/JAN was applied for and assigned by Nishikyo.
Compile the publication information page and complete the publication registration.
7️⃣ Printing and Binding
The publishing house directly manages the printing plant.
Trial print confirmation → Mass printing → Binding and quality inspection.
8️⃣ Finished Product Delivery and Distribution
The publisher delivered sample books and finished products.
Authors can choose:
Self-sales: The publisher receives a fixed publishing commission (e.g., 15%).
Distribution through a separate "Distribution Entrustment Agreement" will be signed, in which our publishing house will connect with distributors, bookstores, and e-commerce platforms.
